MEAK Medical Missions

Bringing cardiac surgery, eye care, dentistry, and food relief to underserved communities across Kenya since 2013.

Partner Since 2013 · Kenya

Medicine where it’s needed most

Medical and Educational Aid to Kenya (MEAK) organizes and funds medical missions for underserved communities in pediatric cardiac surgery, thoracic surgery, ophthalmology, dentistry, and orthopedics. By partnering with local hospitals and medical professionals, MEAK makes a lasting impact on patients and local healthcare as a whole.

In 2019, recognizing the dire economic situation caused by drought and Covid, MEAK began emergency food missions in Northern Kenya — distributing food across Laikipia and Samburu where teams are alone in providing food relief to those in desperate need.

March to the Top is proud to partner with MEAK by sponsoring both food and medical missions since 2013.

Why It Matters

Healthcare should not be a privilege of location or wealth

In Kenya, rural communities face great disadvantages navigating a healthcare system that favors the wealthy. Heart disease and blindness are all too common, affecting people regardless of location or income. Despite this, treatment is often only accessible to those in urban areas with financial means — resulting in thousands going without care for years on end.

Location and income continue to be barriers for Kenyans struggling to get the treatment they deserve. MEAK and March to the Top are working to break down those barriers, one medical mission at a time.

I haven’t been able to see for forty years and now I can see the flowers and the people outside — I am so happy, I want to dance and sing!
